Messina Delgado

Messina, originally from El Paso, embodies a diverse, passionate, and empathetic nature. Her inviting smile and comforting presence ensure a curious, attentive, and comprehensible environment for everyone.

My journey is marked by its own set of challenges, including making mistakes, playing the antagonist in someone’s story, navigating periods of uncertainty, and enduring existential crises. I found myself in counseling because the masks I wore got too heavy and I needed help letting them go. Doing so was so freeing that I wanted to help others experience their version of what it all means to them. Embracing my humanity every day keeps me open to genuine connections with others.

I try to make time for friends and family and indulge in too many books at a time. Exploring nearly every sensory experience life has to offer is at the core of each day.

About me

You adapt so much to this world, and now you don’t know who you are anymore without feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious and/or depressed. You have ways of coping, and yet you want to begin to thrive. You cannot choose how a situation makes you feel, and at the same time, you don’t want it to throw you off course anymore. Our time together will be spent figuring these aspects (emotional, intellectual, sensory-based, and behavioral) of life out through your own story. Growing into learning how to listen to yourself so you can trust what it is you know, and what it is you need will be at the core of each session. The tools I use are done with cultural considerations, and by acknowledging the extra burdens social constructs and systemic environments put on you. I start with listening and being a witness to your story. With your consent, I use parts work to assist you in taking an objective stance in your story and, and in offering yourself compassion. Continuing with practicing somatic experiences to help you understand how your body has responded to your narrative. Pairing that with mindfulness to help you regulate these sensations. Sometimes things may pop up that feel harder to regulate or process and it is here where we can begin to use other tools to get you on the other side of what it is you are going through. I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) with children, teens, and adults of both the neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc.) and neurotypical populations. With your consent, we can use it to overcome these larger internal hurdles or trauma(s) also known as PTSD or C-PTSD. You may prefer to take this route initially – if so, I can oblige.
All of the work will be done at your pace, and with your specific needs in mind. I am an affirming counselor and believe counseling should be for everyone. I understand the systemic pressure that can have you trying to “get it right!” A benefit to you may be my stance on de-stigmatizing mental health by avoiding rigid diagnoses and accepting that there is not one way to thrive in this world. I will be ready when you are.
I primarily work out of the Sugarland office providing in-person counseling. We have created a comfortable and private space for our clients. I also offer virtual services for clients who are unable to attend in-person. In either setting, I ensure our session is distraction free, safe, and comfortable for you.
